Nola May Weeks

Nola May Weeks, 83, of Camp Hill, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died peacefully on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at her daughter’s home. Though her earthly journey has ended, her profound faith offers comfort that she is now a graceful angel watching over us.

A devout worshiper at the Shiremanstown Church of God, Nola lived a life marked by unwavering faith, actively engaging in the church council, choir, Bible studies, children’s ministry, Vacation Bible School, Camp Yolijwa retreats, and puppet ministry, as well as serving as a missionary in Haiti. Nola’s love of her church family, and the love they returned, was foremost in her heart. She also treasured the extended family that developed through her part-time job at Lemoyne Ace Hardware, whose generous support and fun-loving spirit continued long after her decade as one of the “helpful hardware folk.”

Nola cherished the love and support of her family, friends, and neighbors.

A Claims Representative/Manager with PHICO Insurance Company by profession, Nola’s attention to detail, work ethic, and self-motivated studies contributed to her rapid rise as a manager in the organization. In 1994, PHICO management opportunities relocated her to Missouri, where she discovered a love of horses while living on a small farm. She retired in 2002 and returned to her Pennsylvania roots. She found joy reading scripture with others, playing Scrabble and Parchesi with dear friends, and playing card games (“Knock”) with her sister Earlene, daughters, and anyone else brave enough to join the intense card circle. Another passion of Nola’s was her love of music, which included playing hymns on the piano, strumming the Dulcimer with inspiration from the church, and twisting her hips to any genre of music.

Throughout her life, Nola had a creative and a silly side that likely extended from her earlier days as an influential Girl Scout leader. Her daughters hold fond memories of scout campfire songs, “softball mom” cheers, and magical decorating for each holiday.

Of note, Nola formed a special bond in a short but purposeful time spent with her loving caregiver and “daughter she never had” Dana Green.

Born July 8, 1941, to the late William Earl and Mary Sarah (Lowe) Troy, she spent her formative years in Harrisburg, graduating from John Harris High School, Class of 1959. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Stafford; sisters, Earlene A. Royston and Mary Louise Shearer; and half-brothers, Charles Hocker and David Hocker.

Nola is survived by her daughters Karen Luckemeyer (James) of San Antonio, TX; Jamie Robenseifner of Camp Hill; Kerri Smith (Steve) of Mechanicsburg; and Kristie Kay Foster (W. Scott) of Camp Hill; bonus daughter Stacey Frost (Scott); twelve grandchildren George, Amanda, James, Alexandra, Aaron, Justin, Jason, Jeremy, Cameron, Holden, Drew and Everly; and four great-grandchildren Laurel, Lyla, Kayden, and Colson.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Shiremanstown Church of God. The church and family will host a reception luncheon immediately following the service at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiremanstown Church of God, 35 S Locust St., Shiremanstown, PA 17011, https://www.stowncog.org/
