Palmira Jean Anderson Polito

Palmira Jean (Mimi) Piasente Anderson Polito of New Cumberland died on Monday, September 5, 2016 under the care of Hospice at the Hershey Medical Center.

She was born January 27, 1933 in Johnstown, Pa. Cambria County, to the late Angelo and Virginia Piasente, grew up in Seward, Pa, and graduated from Johnstown Central High School

She is survived by her husband William F. Polito, a daughter Nina Myers (Greg) of York Haven, two sons, Douglas Anderson (Kory) of Lititz and Jeffrey Anderson (Annie) of New Cumberland, step son Keith Polito (Wendy) of Lewisberry, step daughters Brenda Drobenak of Hummelstown and Faith Lauck (Roger) of New Cumberland, two sisters, Romayne Berezansky of Seward, Pa. and Pauline Kubic of Ohio, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was the widow of the late LTC Duane Anderson and she was preceded in death by four sisters, Julia Kyle, Angela Knopfel, Victoria Decker and Virginia Mash.

Her family spent many years traveling extensively to different countries while in the military with her late husband, Duane and their children. They especially enjoyed their trip to Italy visiting her late Aunt Romayne and her late mother’s homestead.

She was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, the Little Flower Club, an Arimeathean, volunteered at the Nearly New Shop, member of St. Theresa Council of Catholic Women, Chairperson of Religious and Jewelry booth for the Octoberfest from its inception, a member of the West Shore Senior Center, New Cumberland, member of the Officers Ladies Club in New Cumberland and a volunteer at their Thrift Shop, volunteer at the Fort Lee, Virginia Army Hospital as a Blue Cross worker during the Vietnam excursion, brought Holy Eucharist and the visited the homebound at Mallard Run, served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for 27 years at her church.

She was retired from General Materiel and Petroleum Activity (GMPA) at the New Cumberland Army Depot as a Supply Cataloger.

There will be a gathering and prayers at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm on Friday evening September 9.

The family invites you to join them for the Mass of Christian Burial which will be Celebrated at 11am Saturday, September 10 at St. Theresa’s Church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cumberland, with the Rev Samuel Dubois as Celebrant. Refreshments will be served immediately after Mass in the social room at St. Theresa’s. Burial will be at 2:30pm Monday September 12 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
