Patricia A. (Harnish) Vucenich

July 26, 1933 - June 30, 2019

Resident of Country Meadows Retirement Community, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Preceded in death: parents Daniel F. Harnish and Margaret (Reel) Harnish; husband Ted; son David; brother Daniel Harnish

Survivors: daughter Diane Vucenich (Dave Kolsbun) of Virgin Islands; son Theodore Vucenich (Heidi Jaeger) of Sparks, NV; son Mark Vucenich (Lisa Essman) of Lewisberry, PA; sister-in-law Patricia Harnish; the Reel girls; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, and devoted friends, especially friends Joan Marino and Sandie Davis.

Born in Harrisburg in 1933, Pat loved learning from day one and traveled extensively in her youth having graduated high school in Savannah, GA, college at Newberry College, Newberry, SC where she majored in English and Spanish. She furthered her studies in Madrid and Mexico City before returning “home” after the death of her father to teach at Susquehanna H.S., Cumberland Valley H.S., and Trinity H.S.
In the 1970’s she switched careers and wrote computer programs for the Navy as an employee of FMSO in Mechanicsburg where she again was able to travel in support of her colleagues at Navy bases around the world.

Pat was a fan of most sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates. She enjoyed talking about their games and could name all of the team members and positions. Pat was very social and was involved with tutoring Spanish, card playing, happy hours, choir and book clubs. Her taste in music was broad including everything from classical Spanish guitar to classic rock, especially AC/DC (the Bon Scott years of course). She was an avid reader of mysteries and was genuinely interested and curious about people. Pat truly loved visiting her daughter in St. Thomas and the friends she made there pool and beach side.
Her gregarious nature allowed her to make friends easily especially if they could make a good Manhattan.

Pat's family would like to thank her friends and staff at Country Meadows for all of their
care and support, and to her nephew Eric Harnish for providing his aunt's evening entertainment.

Her family will miss her tremendously.
