Patricia (Dorothy) Crane, 87, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in Livingston, NJ.
Mrs. Crane was Born in Baltimore, MD; raised in Taneytown, MD; and was married in Anchorage Alaska to the late Thomas W. Crane. She was a member of the Taneytown Chenoweth family, who owned a canning factory in town.
She attended James Madison University and was a voracious reader and ardent supporter of the New Cumberland, PA and Maplewood, NJ Libraries. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was an avid bird watcher.
In her earlier years, she was a gown model in Hanover, PA, a production director for WBAL, Baltimore, a news manager for WIZ, Baltimore, production manager for several broadcast outlets in Alaska, served as a stand-in host for the TV series Romper Room and wrote several children’s stories. Additionally, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Crane is survived by her son, Thomas Baxter Crane of Glen Gardner, NJ, granddaughter, Alessandra Grace Crane of Long Branch, NJ, Shelly Martin and Deanna Gallaro.
Graveside service and burial will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp., PA. There will be no viewing or visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations are respectfully requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
