Patricia J. Glancey, 99, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023, while living at The Woods at Cedar Run, Camp Hill. She was the daughter of the late Herbert V. and Frances (LaBar) Abel, born on May 22, 1924, in Philadelphia.
Patricia served in the United States Navy during WWII, where she met her husband, a Marine, at a USO Club. They married six months later.
Patricia’s greatest joy was taking care of her family and home. She enjoyed cooking and reading (especially historical non-fiction and the supernatural). Meeting a ghost or space alien was a life-long dream. She was an avid card player, especially bridge and poker. She was not shy about taking your money nor bruising your ego. She also had a keen interest in Astrology. Patricia loved meeting new people, and the first thing she would ask was, “What’s your birth date?” She would then proceed to tell you all about yourself; the good, the bad, and the ugly. She was a talented quilter, with her quilts adorning the beds and walls of her family. One of her favorite pastimes was getting together with friends and family, enjoying a meal with lots of conversation and laughter.
Surviving Patricia are her children, Michael Glancey and his wife, Dede, of Camp Hill, and Jenny Emmel and her husband, Allen of Southside, TN; a daughter-in-law, Erin Glancey; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 69 years, LeRoy J. Glancey; grandson, Daniel M. Glancey; and sons, Patrick Glancey and Robert Glancey.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 20th, 2023, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, where she will take up residence alongside her husband.
