Paul I. Kenney, Sr., 91 of New Cumberland, died Friday, July 3, 2015 at Messiah Lifeways, Upper Allen Twp. surrounded by his family.
He was WWII Veteran who served in the Army Air Corp, 403rd Troop Carrier Group, in the South Pacific. He graduated from St. Joseph’s University in 1950, with a degree in Accounting.
After he retired as Chief of Finance Division, Bureau of Transportation for the Commonwealth of PA, he started his own consulting business, P.I Kenney Associates, and provided accounting and advisory services for transportation companies. He was a former New Cumberland Tax Collector.
He was a member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland, and very active in the Knights of Columbus, as a Third Degree and Master of the Fourth Degree Bishop Shanahan Assembly, and Charter Grand Knight of St. Theresa Council of the Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the VFW Post No 7415, American Legion Post 143, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and P.A.R.S.E.
He enjoyed golfing. From his early days, he enjoyed music and played clarinet in the Trilby String Band.
He was born November 10, 1923 in Philadelphia to the late John F. and Marie V. (Reynolds) Kenney. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Schubert Kenney, son, Patrick F., and sister, Rita M. Hoffner. He is survived by three sons, Paul I., Jr. of Plymouth Meeting, Timothy B, of New Cumberland, and Michael D. (Tereasa) of Stewartstown; a sister, Marie T. Bishop of Telford; and five grandchildren: Renee, Lindsay, Sean, Mikey, and Emily,
Viewings will be held from 5 to 7pm on Wednesday, July 8th with a Scripture Service at 6:30 and from 9:30 to 10:30am on Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Thursday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070 or the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043
