Penny (Shaver) Brammer, age 59, died at home on Friday, December 15, 2017, surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born December 27, 1957, in Christiansburg, VA, to George and Shirley Shaver (Winter Springs, FL), she attended Christiansburg High School. On February 14, 1976, she married her high school and FFA sweetheart, Michael Brammer.
Penny lived in Mechanicsburg, PA, and worked for the PA FFA Association. “Mama B” inspired 17 years of State FFA Officers and touched the lives of thousands of FFA members. Her impact with the youth leaders of agriculture will be part of her lasting legacy of passion, love and the highest expectations.
In addition to her parents and husband, Penny was survived by her son, Greg Brammer and his wife, Jackie (New Kingstown); her daughter, Sherisa Nailor and her husband, Jason (Mechanicsburg); her siblings: Karen Sutphin (Rocky Mount, VA), John Shaver and his wife, Gette (Riner, VA), and Sheryl Bradley and her husband, Rob (Winter Springs, FL); and her adored grandchildren: Terrin and Grace Brammer, and Joleigh, Jordyn and Jayce Nailor.
Penny was a life member and long-time volunteer at the New Kingstown Volunteer Fire Company, where she and her family enjoyed the fellowship and service to the community. Even through her illness, Penny remained a spirit of light and kindness for others. She was a woman of faith and daily shared her joys with the world through Facebook, encouraging those in struggle to trust in God and to enjoy the simplest blessings of life.
Family was the foundation of Penny’s legacy. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, and she never left anyone without telling them of the joy they brought to her life. As Nana, she was always present and always the biggest fan in the crowd. She attended football games, softball and baseball tournaments, swimming meets, soccer tournaments and dance recitals—always in team colors or sporting her pink ribbon support.
All are welcome to join Penny’s family at her funeral service which will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 23, 2017, at Vibrant – A Christian Church, 1775 Lambs Gap Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050. Public viewings will be held Friday, December 22, 2017, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, PA 17070, and Saturday, December 23, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at Vibrant – A Christian Church.

The family sends their most heartfelt thanks and praises to Dr. Roy Williams and his entire staff at FHL Blood and Cancer Specialists who walked this battle with her through the past eight years, always going above and beyond the call of duty for Penny and the family.
