Peter H. Hagewiesche Sr.

Peter H. Hagewiesche Sr., 71, of Etters and formerly of Camp Hill, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at the Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
Peter worked as an auto mechanic on European cars in the early days in Daytona Beach, FL, where he also served on a pit crew for the Daytona Speedway. He moved his family to PA in 1973, where he owned and operated the Red Baron Volkswagen Repair Shop and “retired” to work at Acme Car Company where he was known as their “VW Oracle Guru”.
Born on March 6th, 1944, in Cuxhaven, Germany, he was the son of the late Franz and Hertha Ehrlich Hagewiesche. He was also preceded in death by a son, Peter H. Jr., a brother, Ralph and two sisters, Elka Hagewiesche and Inge Goergens.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Patricia Sauers Hagewiesche; two sons, Don T. (Susan) of Reisterstown, MD, and Daniel P. (Annette) of Danville, CA; a daughter, Jennifer H. Gumert of Hummelstown; a brother, Uwe Hagewiesche of Hamburg, Germany; three sisters, Eva Thiele, Karin Kalkuhl and Irma Gieseking, all of Hamburg, Germany; eight grandchildren, Nicole Sutcliffe, Amanda, Rebecca and Christopher Gumert, Carter Hagewiesche, Adam, Gabriella, and Brian Hagewiesche; two great granddaughters, Anya and Rozzlyn. Peter was the rock of his family and they will miss him dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Michael McFadden as celebrant. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Lower Allen Twp.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 – 7 PM at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland.
