Phyllis June (Wieand) Hoff Probst

June 11, 1932 — June 11, 2021

Phyllis June (Wieand) Hoff Probst, 89, formerly of Camp Hill and Harrisburg, passed away on her birthday, June 11, 2021, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital.

Phyllis was a graduate of South Whitehall High School, Lehigh County and Linden Hall Junior College, Lititz, earning the salutatorian title of both her high school and college classes. She began her career as a medical secretary at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Lancaster, prior to becoming a fulltime mother and homemaker. Phyllis took great pride in raising her five children and taking care of her home. Later, she returned to the workforce and retired as a medical secretary, first with ENT Specialist Nae Park, MD and then with the Polyclinic Speech and Hearing Clinic.

Phyllis enjoyed solving mentally challenging puzzles. A fierce competitor, whether it was Sudoku, crossword or jigsaw puzzles, a game of solitaire, bingo, or Jeopardy…Phyllis was in it to win it. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Phyllis was born in Guth’s Station, Lehigh County, the daughter of Paul R. and Mabel (Schraden) Wieand. Phyllis is predeceased by her parents; husband, Ralph E. Probst; and sister Kathryn Horst. She is survived by her children, R. Andrew Hoff (Mary) of Camp Hill, Christine McInnes (Charles) of Camp Hill, Matthew Hoff (Toy) of Dublin, CA, Martha Klingensmith (Kevin) of Lewisberry and Sarah Mazan (Michael) of Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren; and four great grandchildren; her sister Isabel Koch, and her former husband Richard A. Hoff.

Special thanks to the Personal Care staff at Homeland Center where Phyllis resided and was lovingly cared for the last year of her life. Thanks are also extended to the staff and caregivers at First Light Home Care of the Capital Region who provided care prior to Phyllis’s move to Homeland.

A private memorial service was held in her church with the Rev. Virginia Cover officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in support of the Homebound and Shut-in ministries to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Phyllis Hoff Probst Memorial Fund,1610 Carlisle Rd. Camp Hill, PA 17011.
