Ralph G. “Spike” Thrush, 85, of Mechanicsburg and formerly of Camp Hill, died Friday, December 27, 2013 in Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Lower Paxton Twp.
He was a retired Sales Representative for the former M. Brenner & Sons and an Army veteran and P.O.W. of the Korean War. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Steelton; Steelton/Swatara Lodge 775, F&AM; Harrisburg Consistory, AASR; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Harrisburg Forest 43; National Sojourners 76, Harrisburg and its Heroes of ’76; Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg and its Sports Car Unit and Legion of Honor where he served as Past Commander. In addition, he and his wife Polly volunteered at the VA Medical Center, Camp Hill location for over 15 years.
Spike was born in Harrisburg to the late Ralph G. and Anna (Morrison) Thrush, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 57 years Pauline (Williams) Thrush; two sons, Ralph L. “Chip” Thrush, III (Lyndell D’Angelo) of Mechanicsburg and Scott A. Thrush of Lawnton; and a sister Phyllis Hackman of Camp Hill. He was preceded in death by a brother Bernie and five sisters, Hope Lindenberger, Pauline Witmer, Inez Davis, Hazel Ulrich and Ione Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in his church with the Rev. Dr. B. Michael Brossman, his pastor officiating. Viewing will be from 10 – 11:30 am Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
