Randall Burdge Caton, Sr. (Bud), age 83, of Camp Hill, Pa. passed away April 23, 2024.
He was born January 28, 1941, in Cambridge, Maryland, to the late Rebecca Dickert Caton and the late Harry Burdge Caton, of Suffolk, Virginia.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Virginia H Caton; daughter, Rebecca Hayden, of Walterboro, South Carolina; son, Randall Caton, Jr. (wife Jennifer), of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and 6 grandchildren - Caroline Carter (husband Cole), Lucas Hayden (wife Miranda), & Kayla Needham (husband Joel) of Walterboro, S. C.; Jared Caton (wife Rafalene) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Andrew and Erin Caton of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; 2 brothers, James Caton (wife Sally) of Bath, N. C.; and Daniel Caton (wife Brenda) of Henderson, N.C.; sister-in law Judy Jones (husband Mel), of Charlotte, N.C.; 2 brothers in law, Jim Hill (wife Paige) of Suffolk, Va.; and Bill Hill (wife Thelma) of Morehead City, N.C.; 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; and very close friend Michael Carter of Ridgeville, S.C.
He was a graduate of Suffolk High School, Suffolk, Va., and a graduate of Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, with a B.S in Business Administration. In 1963 he joined Ralston Purina Company thus starting a 43-year career. Prior to moving to Camp Hill in 1980 he held various credit and financial management positions with Purina in Macon, Georgia; Wilson, N.C.; Saint Johnsbury, Vermont; St. Louis Missouri; Columbus, Ohio, and Camp Hill, Pa., where he retired in 2005.
Bud was an Eagle Scout (1955), and a member of the Order Of The Arrow (Scouting's National Honor Society). He continued his interest in scouting as assistant scout master both in Columbus, Ohio, and Camp Hill, Pa.. Bud was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Allendale, where he was an Elder, and served as chairperson of the Interpretation & Stewardship Commission. He was on the Board Of Directors of PennAg Industries Trade Association for 12 years, 10 of which he served as Treasurer.
His hobbies included Fly Fishing, Model Trains, Stamp Collecting, and Corvettes.
He enjoyed following the grandkids sporting events, coaching youth baseball, and trips to Virginia Beach, and Edisto Island, South Carolina.
Visitation will be from 10am until funeral services at 11am Saturday, May 4th at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
