Randall E. Evertts, Jr.

March 18, 1941 — June 27, 2023

New Cumberland

Randall E. Evertts, Jr., 82, of New Cumberland, departed to meet his Lord and Savior early on Tuesday morning, June 27, 2023. He was grateful to pass at his home with family by his side.

Randy is survived by the love of his life, and wife of more than 61 years, Carol A. (Coffey) Evertts, who also served as his caregiver until the end of life. He is also survived by his children, Candace I. Laughman (Dean) and Randall E. Evertts III (Andrea); and grandchildren, Brooke A., Abigail I., Logan E. and Jacob E. He was preceded in death by his parents, Randall E. and Mary Jane (Conrad) Evertts; beloved grandparents, Nathan D. and Theresa (Duffey) Evertts; an uncle and aunt, Lorin D. and Lois A. (Fultz) Evertts; an aunt, Beatrice Boyles; and a brother, Larry R. Evertts.

A 1959 graduate of New Cumberland High School, “Fido” played the saxophone in the band and was a standout offensive guard on the varsity football team. He soon after joined the U.S. Navy where he served upon the U.S.S. Douglas H. Fox destroyer which sailed throughout the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, and other various locations. For the next 42 years, Randy was a faithful and dedicated Signalman for the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR), Penn Central, Conrail, and Norfolk Southern Railroad. A member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local #105, Randy also fulfilled the role of Union Secretary for a substantial length of time. Randy was an active member of Trinity Church, New Cumberland, where he participated in the choir and was the Chair of the Board of Trustees for four years. He was also a past member of the Lions Club. In retirement, Randy and his wife helped raise their grandchildren, providing wonderful care and love.

Randy was a fantastic baker and cook, a passionate Penn State football and Los Angeles Dodgers fan, and quite meticulous when it came to maintaining his property. Above all, Randy was a tireless man and never stopped providing and caring for his family. He always strived to do things to the best of his ability and never once complained as his health continued to decline. A friend to many and always our hero – he will be sorely missed.
