Rev. Harold E. Crosby

September 29, 1916 — October 20, 2019

Harold E. Crosby, who lived to be 103, joined the Church Triumphant on Sunday, October 20, 2019. Harold was born September 29, 1916 in McKeesport, PA to William Henry and Mary Anna Crosby. Harold was the third of five children, and last survivor of 35 cousins. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Kathryn Lorene Crosby of Springfield, MO. He was also preceded in death by his second wife, Elizabeth A. Armstrong. He is survived by his children Carole Jean Kimmel of Tyrone, PA and David P. Crosby, Sr. of New Cumberland, PA. Harold’s family included five grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Early Ministry: Harold was a 1940 graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. He served in continuous active ministry in the PennDel District from 1940 through 2006. Harold was ordained in the Assemblies of God in 1946 and founded three churches in his early ministry in Miller, MO, Pittsburgh, PA, and Indiana, PA. He pastored Calvary Temple in Wellsboro, PA, the Assembly of God of Glassport, PA, and First Assembly of God in Tyrone, PA.

Later Ministry: Harold served as PennDel District Christian Education Director from 1961-1984 and was affectionately known as “Mr Sunday School.” He served as PennDel World Missions Director from 1979-2006. He managed the HIS Fund accounts from 1983-1990 and he served on the HIS Fund Board of Directors through 2011. Harold ministered in fourteen different Assembly of God districts and visited sixty countries as Missions Director, leading MAPS Teams and preaching the gospel at every opportunity. He directed Kid’s Kamps, authored Sunday School training courses, recorded numerous Sunday School teaching series, and Children’s Church teaching series with his wife Lorene.

The following paragraph from Harold describes his life-long dedication to serving the Lord: “I am humbled to think that God would love me and that Jesus would die for me. And further – that God would call me into a life of service for Him, ministering to the family of God and reaching out to a lost world with the gospel. I have tried to be a faithful servant, employing the talents He has entrusted to me in the preaching of the gospel so that the church might be edified and God glorified. Now I have finished my life’s work. There are no regrets, only that I have but one life to give Him. I have finished the course and kept the faith. There is a crown awaiting me, and all those who love Him and serve Him.”

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Monday, October 28, at Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill, with the Rev. Philip Bongiorno officiating. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.

A viewing will be held one hour prior to services in the church.
