Richard D. “DocPop” Conklin, US Navy Retired, 76 of Enola, died Monday, June 24, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.
A decorated Vietnam Veteran, he retired from the former Mechanicsburg Navy Depot and most recently worked as a Site Supervisor Security Guard for G4S. He was Past Exulted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, West Shore Lodge No. 2257 he was also a member of American Legion Post 109, Mechanicsburg, USS Forrestal CVA-59, VFW Post 6704, Mechanicsburg, Fleet Reserve, NARFE, Harrisburg Senators Fan Club, and Susquehanna Rovers Volksmarch.
He was born August 10, 1936 in Johnson City, NY.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. (Hughes) Conklin; a brother, David M. Conklin; and his beloved pets.
Visitation will be held at 9:30am, a Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks service will be held at 10:15 followed by the funeral service at 10:30 Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
