Richard Joseph Wilt, 86, of Newberry Twp., passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Penn State Holy Spirit Medical Center, Camp Hill. He was the son of the late Milton and Marian (Koellner) Wilt, born on May 25, 1936 in Etters.
Growing up in Etters, he attended New Cumberland High School before marrying his best friend and wife, Jean, and starting a career in trucking. He would drive an 18-wheeler for 42 years, for various local companies including Roadway – Camp Hill, IML – Etters, and finally, Whirlpool – Carlisle, from which he retired. He was a past member of the local Teamsters, and he was a lifetime member of the NRA as well as past-president of Northern York County Game & Fish Club. He and his wife are current members of Grace Baptist Church, Lewisberry, and he was an avid outdoorsman, taking any opportunity to hunt turkey and deer at the family cabin in Tioga County.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles and horses in his youth, and he was a lifelong bluegrass enthusiast. Rich was an easy-going person and always had a smile on his face. His family would like to extend their thanks to Fresenius Dialysis, Etters, and specifically to Michelle, Brittney and Liz, who took tremendous care of Rich over the past five years.
Surviving Rich is his wife of 65 years, Jean (Stoner) Wilt; his children, Denise Dapp (husband, Kenneth) of New Cumberland; Jamie Kerstetter (husband, Clair) of Dover; Mark Wilt of Dover; Scott Wilt (wife, Tamee) of Dover; and Randy Wilt (wife, Vicki) of York; eight grandchildren, Stefanie Pensinger (husband, Jason), Jeffrey Dapp (wife, Megan), Melanie Pressley (husband, James), Benjamin Kerstetter (wife, Kimberly), Scott Wilt (wife, Abbey), and Morgan, Holli and Carli Wilt; nine great-grandchildren, Jason Pensinger Jr. (wife, Brittin), Jacob and James Pensinger, Chase and Brinley Dapp, Addi and Kyla Pressley, Kaylyn Walls and Danika Kerstetter; and a sister, Margie Hogue (husband, Joe) of Manchester. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, TJ Santiago; and by four brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, August 19, 2022 at Grace Baptist Church, Lewisberry. A public visitation will be held the hour prior to the funeral service in the church. Burial will immediately follow in Paddletown Cemetery, Goldsboro.
