Richard K. Reese

Richard K. Reese, 86, of Swainton, NJ and formerly of Harrisburg died Monday, April 24, 2016 at his home.
An Army Veteran of the Korean War, Dick was a retired Merchant Marine Captain and an avid outdoorsman. He was an alumnus of Harrisburg Academy and Maine Maritime Academy. He was a member of Cape May Lodge, F & AM and Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg.
Dick was the high-point winner in Harrisburg’s annual Kipona canoe races from 1948 to 1956. In 1992, in collaboration with the Canoe Club of Greater Harrisburg, he re-established the Kipona canoe races and has provided prize sponsorships every year since then.
He was the widower of Delores Ann (Demma) Reese and was also preceded in death by his brother Kent J. Reese. He is survived by a sister, Margaret Fearon of Farmington, Maine; a step-sister Christa Boyer of Harrisburg; step-brother William Longenecker, of Mechanicsburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from noon until funeral services at 1pm Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Swatara Twp.
