Richard Y. Dick Eby, 88, formerly of Wormleysburg, died Saturday, March 02, 2013, at his residence in Bethany Village.
He retired as the Director of Administration for HARSCO Corporation, Wormleysburg; was a WWII Army Veteran where he served as a Staff Sergeant with the 66th Infantry Division Field Artillery in the European Theater; achieved his Bachelor of Science Degree from Lebanon Valley College under the G.I. Bill. Dick was born on September 9, 1924, the son of the late Charles E. and Carrie E. (Yoder) Eby. He was also preceded in death by his step mother, Helen Eby, and his sister, Mary Mart.
Dick dedicated over forty years of public service to Wormleysburg Borough, including President, Vice President, and Treasurer, a position he had to relinquish due to ill health in December 2012.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Sara (Jones) Eby; two sons, James R. of Lancaster, John M. of Lower Allen Twp.; a daughter, Anne E. Eby (Arthur Kravitz) of Lawrenceville, NJ; a sister, Jean Boyd of Palmyra; two grandchildren, Justin M. Eby (Alissa), Kaitlyn M. Eby; five nieces and nephews.
Inurnment with full military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp., at 10:30 AM on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Central PA, or the Cumberland County Library System.
