Robert Arthur Harman

Robert Arthur Harman, 78, known to his friends as Bob, and to his family as Uncle Butch, passed away in his sleep on Thursday, February 9, 2023.

He grew up in the Harrisburg area, graduated from William Penn High School and then moved to Philadelphia to pursue his career and lifelong passion for the arts. He was the Associate Museum Registrar for the Pennsylvania Academy of The Fine Arts, as well as a Collections Registrar for private collections.

Bob moved back to the mid-state when he retired. The time he spent with family, friends and Penn Pals was time he treasured. His life was rich and colorful. He always said that he was lucky – people came into his life when he needed them. Being with Bob meant having an adventure. He was a wonderful host!

He was predeceased by his partner, Hal, of 31 years; his parents Laura Mills Harman and David W. Harman, Jr.; and a sister Peggy Ann Hatfield.

Family left to keep his memory in their hearts are his brother, David W. Harman III of Camp Hill, PA, sisters Molly Buterbaugh of Goodyear, AZ and Sally Lanzarotti of Blairsville, PA, and several nieces and nephews and their families.

In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no services.
