Robert (Bob) H. Todd

Robert (Bob) H. Todd, Jr. of Lewisberry, beloved husband, father and grandpa, went to be with our Lord on November 26, 2016. Bob was born June 21, 1936, to Anna Jones Todd and Robert Haston Todd in Plymouth. He played clarinet in the marching band and ran track at Plymouth High School where he set a record for the fastest mile. Following high school, Bob joined the U. S. Air Force and was stationed at Croughton Air Force Base in England. A veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1954 to 1958 earning the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Upon leaving the Air Force, Bob joined the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and worked at Harrisburg International and Reading Regional Airports. In 1985, he was promoted to Supervisor of Electronic Technicians at Central Flow Control in Atlantic City. Bob retired from the FAA as Technical Support Manager in December, 1994 after more than 40 years of service.

When Bob was nine, he sold the most war bonds of any Cub Scout in Wyoming Valley. His prize was a trip to meet President Harry S. Truman. Young Bob was escorted by Congressman Dan Flood and presented the President with a pair of bookends made of coal. The family prizes a photograph of Bob sitting on President Truman’s knee in the Oval Office.

Bob was an enthusiastic Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles football fan during his entire life. The only thing he liked more than watching his two favorite teams was watching his children and grandchildren playing high school and college sports.

After retirement, Bob developed a passion for scroll sawing and was a member of the Woodcraft Scroll Saw Club in Harrisburg. He made beautiful crosses, baskets and Christmas ornaments. Bob was a member of Robert Burns Lodge #464 F. & A.M., Harrisburg, and a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland.

Bob is survived by his wife Jacqueline Flaynik Todd, his children, Susan Todd of Camp Hill; Robert and wife Becky Todd of Mechanicsburg; and Alan Todd of Camp Hill; and seven grandchildren, Maisie, Maggie, Maddi, Sadie, Jack, Spencer and Margo. Bob also is survived by his sister Judy Ifft and her husband John of Henry’s Bend; nephew Todd Ifft of Wilton Manners, FL; and nieces, Lynn Reichenbaugh and husband Dr. Melvin Reichenbaugh of Sarver; and Carol Ifft-Darabant and husband Joe, of Oakdale.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, New Cumberland, with visitation one hour prior to services.
