Robert E. Mccann

Robert E. McCann, 74, of Fairview Twp., New Cumberland, died Wednesday, December 24th, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He retired as an auditor with the former New Cumberland Army Depot and later as a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Robert was a graduate of Temple University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He enjoyed his world travels as a Load Master on a C141B with 335th Airlift Squadron out of McGuire AFB New Jersey, spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren, “The Fab 5”. Born on October 16th, 1940, he was the son of the late Anthony A. and Mary M. (Nolan) McCann. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Thomas and Terrance and three sisters, Honoria Szubert, Kathleen Hagen and Michele McCann.
Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Janis A. Pirotte McCann; three daughters, Katharine S. Diorio (Joseph) of Red Lion, Meghan D. DeRoy (Raymond) of Enola and Meredith A. McCann of Harrisburg; a son, Matthew R. McCann (Jody) of Liverpool; two sisters, Sr. Maureen Beatrice R.S.M. and Constance Merkel, both of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Joseph, Julia and Michael Diorio, Addison McCann and Quinn DeRoy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Wednesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge Street, New Cumberland, with the Rev. Michael McFadden as Celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp.
Viewing will be held 9:30 – 10:30 AM on Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland.
The family has requested memorial contributions to Dallastown High School J.R.O.T.C., c/o Dallastown Area High School, 700 New School Lane, Dallastown, PA 17313, in lieu of flowers.
