Robert J. “Bob” Behney, 79 of Harrisburg, died, after a short battle with cancer, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice.
Bob was born May 26, 1936 and raised in Oberlin.
He was a three sport star in high school. An Army veteran, he founded Beman Manufacturing, Inc., an electronic component company that grew to become one of the most successful area businesses in the late 1960’s, 70’s, and early 80’s, employing more than 500 people at one point and made him a millionaire before the age of thirty.
Bob’s passion was boating; he owned sixteen different boats ranging from a small home built craft to a 60 foot yacht, and all sizes in between. He boated in the Susquehanna, Chesapeake, Florida and the Bahamas
Everyone who knew Bob recognized his personal charisma, charm, and courage and drive to do things “his way” and as a result, he had many friends and unique experiences. He was completely satisfied with his journey in this life and more than once expressed that he had “no regrets” and he “did it all!”
Married four times, surviving are three children from his first marriage, Kelly Jacobs, Steve, and Keith Behney; eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8pm Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, 1303 Bridge Street, New Cumberland.
