Robert “Bob” James Moran, CMSgt, USAF, Ret., 86, of Camp Hill passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Holy Spirit Hospital.
He was born on June 26, 1930 in Bristol, CT to the late Lawrence Thomas and Eva Jane (Morgan) Moran.
A Korean and Vietnam War veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart and Air Force Commendation Medal, Bob had last served at Andrews Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. and as a civilian at the former Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg. His active duty stations ranged from Alaska to Georgia, England to Japan.
Bob was a long-time member of the Camp Hill Presbyterian Church and Air Force Sergeants Association. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing with the W.O.R.M.s of CHPC, going to the gym, gardening … and donuts.
Most of all, he had an overwhelming love of family and friends and a rare, wonderful joy of life. Bob was always upbeat and positive, with a wicked and infectious sense of humor. He was a wry, but sage giver of counsel, and he always stood shoulder to shoulder with anyone in need. His family and many friends will dearly miss our beloved “Moran around the house.”
“Huck,” as he was affectionately known by his family, is survived by his bride of 46 years, Mary Lou Huebl Moran; daughter, Renee Moran (Todd Samples) of Castroville, CA; son, Ashley Moran (Viviana) of Phoenixville, PA; three grandchildren, William and Jeremy Samples and Brayden Moran; sister-in-law, Edyth Moran of Milton, DE; brother-in-law, Bill Huebl of Lewes, DE; six nieces, Marilyn Moran (Maria) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Meryl Moran and Janis Moran both of Silver Spring, MD, Hollis Moran of Milton, DE, Kim Powell (Todd) of Huntington, MD and Stacey Landrie of Dagsboro, DE; three nephews, Lawrence Moran of Wheaton, MD, Robert Moran of Gettysburg, PA and Eric Huebl (Mia Levine) of Haddonfield, NJ; numerous grand- and great-grand nieces and nephews; and dear family friend, Sunny Park.
