Robert Joseph McNamara, 64, of Camp Hill, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly of a cardiac arrest on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Pinnacle Health Harrisburg Hospital.
Bob was a retired Director of Policy for the Commonwealth of PA Office of Long Term Living and Department of Aging. He was a graduate of Bloomsburg University (BS in Psychology) and Marywood University, Scranton (MS in Psychology). Bob was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church and its Knights of Columbus, New Cumberland; the West Shore Elks Lodge, Camp Hill; WXPN, Philadelphia; and Delta Pi fraternity, Bloomsburg University. He was an advocate for literacy with Volunteers of America; a supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association; and a former soccer coach with the West Shore Soccer Club, coaching both of his daughters.
Bob was a music lover, avid runner, dog lover, and passionate about current events. Bob can be described as charismatic, humorous, strong willed, independent and intelligent, but most important of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Bob was born in Camden, NJ to the late Robert F. and Margaret (Durkin) McNamara.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 40 years, Debbie L. (Tome) McNamara; his daughters, Carolyn M. Simpson and husband Jarod of Harrisburg, and Kellyn M. Handforth and husband Ryan of Downingtown; his sisters, Kathleen Hughes and husband William of Dunmore, PA, and Anne Kachuk and husband Fred of Newtown, PA; and his granddaughter Aria Handforth.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland with the Rev. Samuel Dubois as Celebrant. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 – 10:30 am Friday at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. A luncheon will be provided by the church immediately after Mass. Burial at Shiloh Union Cemetery, West Manchester Twp., York will follow the luncheon.
