Robert W. Gardner, Jr.

Robert W. Gardner, Jr., 85, of New Cumberland, Fairview Twp., York County, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the Carolyn Croxton Slane Residence, a service of Hospice of Central PA.
He was a retired Bread Salesman with Stroehmann Bakers, Harrisburg and Chef with the former Airport Restaurant, Capitol City Airport, Fairview Twp. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War; a member of Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, New Cumberland; fifty year member of American Legion Post 974, Fairview Twp. where he served in many capacities including Past Commander; past Deputy Commander of the American Legion’s 22nd District; member of the 40 & 8, Voiture 22; and past Treasurer of the West Shore Senior Center, New Cumberland.
He is survived by his wife of more than 61 years, Grace M. (Laux) Gardner; two daughters, Margaret E. Babcock and husband David of Liverpool, NY and Marcia G. Adams of Red Lion, PA; a son Robert W. Gardner, III and wife Tammy of Dillsburg; seven grandchildren, Rebecca, Stephen, Bradley, Jennifer, Joseph, Jeffrey and Julia; and a great granddaughter Madeline. He was preceded in death by a daughter Helen Grace Gardner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 in Baughman Memorial United Methodist Church, 228 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA 17070. Viewing will be from 4 – 7 pm Tuesday evening in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, East Hanover Twp.
