Roger L. Hockenberry, 63, of Fairview Twp., Lewisberry, passed away Thursday, April 23rd, 2015, at Fulton County Medical Center, McConnellsburg.
He graduated from Chambersburg Area High School, and was a U. S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He retired as a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service, Camp Hill, and was employed part-time by Fairview Township in the Parks Department.
A member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisberry; Michaux-Yellow Breeches Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation; NRA; American Legion Post 26, Dillsburg. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved turkey, deer, and rabbit hunting, especially with friends and family at his hunting camp ("Hock's Nest") in Huntingdon County.
Born on August 23rd, 1951, in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Bruce K. and Goldie C. (Carlin) Hockenberry. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marlene Mull and Darlene, and mother-in-law Ruth Darras.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Darras Hockenberry; three sons, Keric L. (Audrey) of York Haven, Kodi B. (Sara) of York Haven, and Klint D. (Nichole) of Leola; a sister, Nancy Lee Lindsay (Fred) of Greencastle; seven grandchildren, Mckenna, Emily, Kaden, Maddox, Blake, Logan and Grant.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 AM on Monday at Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 863 Lewisberry Road, Lewisberry, with the Rev. Timothy L. Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM on Monday until the time of services at the church.
