Roland C. Anstine, 93, of Camp Hill, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at his residence. He was the son of the late Curtis and Catharine (Strock) Anstine, born on August 22, 1929 in York.
Roland was a 1947 graduate of William Penn High School, York, going on to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He would spend a long career at AMP, Harrisburg, where he would retire as manager of the Engineering Department. He was a talented musician, learning the clarinet and saxophone at a young age; he would play in the high school band and then the Spring Garden Band of York.
He and his late wife, Carol, were longtime members of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Camp Hill, and Roland was a member of the Perseverance Lodge #21, F.&A.M., Harrisburg. He was also a member of the James A. Danner VFW Post 537, Etters, as well as AMPRA (AMP Retirees Association). Along with his love of music, he was a formidable poker player and an avid collector of baseball memorabilia; in his prime, he was into body building and weightlifting. Roland was a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan, and his family will be cheering in his honor this coming Sunday.
Surviving Roland are his daughters, Deborah Anstine (spouse, Kelly) of Reading and Cheryl Criswell of York; a step-daughter, Lynne Rietheimer (husband, John) of Mechanicsburg; two grandsons, six great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carol (Riese) Anstine; a son, David Anstine; and a step-son, Craig Stambaugh.
A public viewing will be held from 11AM-12PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023, with a service beginning at noon in the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow in Mount Rose Cemetery, York.
