Ronald G. Heberlig, 78, of Camp Hill passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 14, 1939. He was the son of the late Clair and Thelma (Weibly) Heberlig.
He was a graduate of East Pennsboro High School and the American Institute of Banking. He also attended Bucknell University and University of Virginia. His career in banking spanned 50 years and he was honored at a dinner held by the Pennsylvania Bankers Association for this achievement. He started his banking career at Peoples Bank of Enola and served as President for 6 months before they were taken over by C.C.N.B. Bank, N.A. He was Vice President and head of the Commercial Loan Department with C.C.N.B. Bank, N.A. in New Cumberland for most of his career and then Vice President of A.C.B.B. of Camp Hill for the remaining 10 years. He served two years active duty in the U.S. Army and two years in the Army Reserves. He was a Township Commissioner for East Pennsboro Twp. for 4 years, former member of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce, Greater Harrisburg Area Chamber of Commerce, Member of the Board of Governors, Cumberland Perry County Chapter American Institute of Banking and Treasurer of East Pennsboro School District Authority, and served on the advisory board of the Central Pennsylvania Business College. He also served the community as a coach for the Highland Athletic Association and served on the board of education for St. Theresa School.
Ron loved sports and played football during his high school years and later played semi-professional football with the Cumberland Colts. He was also an assistant Midget football coach in East Pennsboro Twp. for years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan (Reichwein) Heberlig; daughter, Sherryl A. Heberlig; son, Eric J. Heberlig (Leah) and 2 grandchildren, Abby E. and Ian P. Heberlig; brother Richard Heberlig ; and sister, Barbara Heberlig.
Ronald was a member of St. Theresa Parish, New Cumberland and a former member of the Blue Ridge Country Club and Colonial Golf and Tennis Club. He enjoyed traveling and travelled all over the world. He loved being with his grandchildren and attending all of their school events.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30am Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Monday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Interment will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
