Ronald H. Smith, 75, of Camp Hill, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Holy Spirit Hospital. He was born June 24, 1938 in Harrisburg, the son of the late Henry and Lillian (Kawel) Smith. He started his banking career at Citizen’s Trust Company in 1958 and in 1963 began employment with CCNB, NA. In 1979, he was appointed President and CEO of CCNB, NA. A position he held for 14 years until his retirement. Over his successful banking career, Ron held many positions within the community. He was President of the West Shore County Club and a lifelong member. In 1984, he was appointed as a Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He was Chairman of the Board of the Osteopathic Hospital, President of the Harrisburg Credit Bureau, a director of the West Shore Chamber of Commerce and President of the South Central Region of the National Association of Loan and Credit Officers. He was also a member of the Central Penn Multi List, Governing Council of PA Bankers Association and the Reciprocity Club. He was instrumental in the sponsorship of the Lady Keystone Open and the Big 33.
Ron was a graduate of John Harris High School and The Stoner Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University. He also was a Sergeant in the Army Reserves.
While Ron’s professional career was quite successful, making an impact in the South Central Pennsylvania community, his true success was in his devotion and loyalty to his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carol Ann (Andrejack) Smith, and a daughter, Candace Paige (Smith) Ruch, of Cornelius, North Carolina. Ron was predeceased by his loving son Gregory Ronald Smith. He is also survived by his daughter in law, Marci (Hafer) Smith and his grandchildren, Sabrina Renee and Coleman Gregory of Mechanicsburg; his sister, Carol (Smith) Whitaker and her husband Lee Whitaker of Hummelstown. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and an extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 20, 2013 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Viewing will be from 9:30 – 11 am Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Lower Allen Twp.
