Ronald E. Saylor

Ronald E. Saylor, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, at home in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on November 13, 1934, to the late Stanford and Ruth (Metzgar) Saylor. 

Ronald dedicated 31 years to Johnson Controls as a Service Salesman, where he was a valuable and reliable employee. Prior to his illustrious career, Ronald proudly served as a Signalman 1st Class in the US Navy during the Korean War, showcasing his unwavering patriotism and bravery. His commitment to service extended beyond his military duties, as he was a dedicated member serving in churches throughout his life, and was an active member of the YMCA and enjoyed being a member of the company bowling team. An adventure-seeker at heart, Ronald had a passion for the great outdoors. He found solace in hunting deer, fishing for trout, and embarking on multi-generational fishing trips in Erie and Canada. His green thumb was evident through his love for gardening, which he enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He also enjoyed helping to stock local trout streams each spring. These activities brought him immense joy and connection to nature. Ronald was an avid camper, often taking trips with his wife to explore all 50 states and Canada, creating lasting memories with his family along the way. 

He is survived by his loving wife of exactly 64 years, Yvonne (Hardy) Saylor; a son, Bruce (Rebecca) Saylor; three grandsons, Andrew, Luke (Justine), and Seth Saylor; one granddaughter, Suzanna Saylor; one great-granddaughter, Renee. He was preceded in death by his parents. 

In honor of Ronald's remarkable life, a funeral will be held at Parthemore Funeral Home on Friday, August 9, 2024 at 11 AM. There will be a viewing the hour prior with burial taking place at Richland Cemetery in Johnstown, PA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ronald's name to the Shriners Children's Hospital.
