Ruth Ellen Bailey

Ruth Ellen Bailey, 67, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at UPMC Harrisburg Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Eleanor Link and William Shulman, born on July 7, 1957, in Toms River, NJ.

Ruth grew up in New Jersey before moving with her family to New Cumberland, PA, in the mid-1990s. She would gain employment with Giant Food Stores, working in many capacities throughout the years at the Fairview Township location prior to her recent retirement.

She was a member of First Christian Church in Lemoyne for many years and had a special affection for animals, especially dogs and cats. For Ruth, Pepsi always hit the spot, and she could always make room for chocolate ice cream or lollipops. Her feisty personality often brought laughter to her family and coworkers, but she also had a kind and caring side for those she held dear. Ruth cherished her family, taking great joy in supporting her grandchildren and watching them grow.

Surviving are her children, Andy Bailey of Chambersburg, Barb Plaza (Josh) of Camp Hill, Steven Bailey (Kelly) of New Cumberland, Kelly Puhak-Fickes (Cody) of Camp Hill and Alicia Cicero of New Cumberland; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, with another on the way. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Cicero (dcd. 2015).

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 442 Hummel Avenue, Lemoyne, PA 17043.
