Ruth M. Dourte

Ruth M. Dourte, 94, of Dillsburg, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 in her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was a marriage and family therapist, a 1941 graduate of Messiah College where she later served as the college’s first counselor for students for ten years, a 1943 graduate of Elizabethtown College, a 1965 graduate of Claremont Graduate School, Claremont, CA, a member of Dillsburg Brethren in Christ Church and a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. Additionally, she served steadfastly alongside her husband for more than thirty-five years in pastoral ministry.
Ruth was born in Mercersburg, PA to the late Walter N. and Esther F. (Dick) Myers.
She is survived by her husband of more than 71 years Rev. Eber B. Dourte; children, Ray M. Dourte, Esther D. Spurrier and Faithe E. Spurrier, all of Dillsburg; brothers, Ralph L. Myers of Plymouth Meeting and Amos D. Myers of Winchester, VA; eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, April 18, 2015 in Dillsburg Brethren in Christ Church, 18 East Harrisburg St. Dillsburg, PA 17019 with the Rev. Jim Spurrier, her son-in-law and the Rev. Leonard Chester co-officiating. Interment will be in Grantham Cemetery.
