Samuel Ammirato, 94, of Camp Hill, and formerly of Uniontown passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 in Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, PA.
He was a retired Right of Way Inspector for the PA Department of Transportation, Uniontown office and a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, a graduate of Uniontown High School class of 1940, and a proficient woodworker.
Sam was born in Calabria, Italy, the son of the late Frank and Carolina (Catanzariti) Ammirato.
He was the widower of Roselie (Albano) Ammirato and is survived by his children, Dr. Samuel P. Ammirato of Denver, CO and Carol Smore and husband Thomas of New Cumberland; two grandchildren, Megan Busby and husband Brian and Greg Smore and wife Katherine; and two great granddaughters, Lauren Busby and Caroline Smore.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 pm on Friday, April 1, 2016 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 pm Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Burial will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, PA.
Memorial contributions in Sam’s memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choosing.
