Samuel B. Sackman, 94, of New Cumberland died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was a retired Letter Carrier from the United State Post Office, New Cumberland. A WWII Army Veteran, he received the Silver Star for Bravery and two Purple Hearts. He was a graduate of Camp Hill High School. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Lemoyne and lifetime member of the VFW; a Phillies Fan, he enjoyed working on his 1959 Metropolitan and attending antique car shows.
He was born June 21, 1925 in Harrisburg to the late John M. and Esther M. (Leach) Sackman. He was also preceded in death by his wife Phyllis A. (Altland) Sackman and sister, Jane Rice.
He is survived by two sons, John R. (Patricia A.) of Mechanicsburg and Donald C. of New Cumberland; two grandchildren, Nikki and Toby; seven great-grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew, Shayne, Brenden, Kayleigh, Madison, and Bryleigh; and a great-great-granddaughter, Aubree.
Viewing will be from 10am until funeral services at 11am Tuesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Rev. Dr. Lew Parks, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill.
