Sandra L. Hershberger

November 26, 1946 — December 28, 2020

Sandra L. Hershberger, 74, of Lemoyne, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 at her home. Daughter of the late Warren S. and Dorothy M. (Fogie) Sload, she was born on November 26, 1946 in Columbia, PA.

Growing up in Lancaster County, Sandy was a 1964 graduate of Donegal High School, Mt. Joy. She was a dispatcher and secretary for Control Service & Engineering (CSE), New Cumberland, for almost thirty years. She loved music of all kinds, and she was a very skilled artist. She painted with oils over the years, creating many works featuring birds and waterfowl native to Pennsylvania. As she aged, her artistic ventures changed; over the past few years she made seasonal wreaths (of various materials) and would sell them online, shipping her hand-crafted creations to buyers nationwide. Her love for music was compounded when she was able to dance to it as well. She and her husband, Ed, would dance the night away, especially if they were playing rock-n-roll. Sandy started each day with a cup of coffee – and she’d finish the rest of the pot before the day was through. This coffee lover enjoyed all phases of her life, but got something extra special out of being a grandmother. Her family will miss her tremendously.

Surviving Sandra is her husband of 33 years, Edward L. Hershberger; two sons, Andrew J. Kessler and Frederick E. Kessler (Jill); daughters, Amy L. Roberts and Susan A. Roberts; step-children, Jodi Esteban and Thomas Hershberger; three grandchildren, Cameron, Ethan and Ellysia; step-grandchildren, Philip, Alyssa and Michael; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Warren S. Sload, Gregory M. Sload and Richard A. Sload; a sister, Theresa A. Mateer; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Hershberger.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in Sandy’s name to the hospice organization responsible for her care: Asana Hospice Care, 2708 Commerce Drive, Suite 300, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
