Sara Catherine "Kay" Flynn

Sara C. “Kay” Flynn, 97, formerly of New Cumberland, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 in Celebrations, Dillsburg. 

Kay was born on December 1, 1925 in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of the late John Ross and Marie C. (Sweeney) Simonetti.

She was a 1943 graduate of William Penn High School and received her business training at Central PA Business College from 1943 through 1959.  She retired from the PA Department of Health where her last position was Director of Personnel Transactions.  In 1954 she married Robert E. Flynn and shared a wonderful life with him until his passing in 1981.

Kay was always interested in Republican politics and served the Republican Party in several roles at various levels of government.

She is survived by nieces, Helen Shuler (Jay) of Camp Hill, Marcia Johnson (Robert) of Parkesburg, PA and Patricia Smith of Rockville, MD; a nephew Eugene Flynn (Cindy) of Kersey, PA; a great niece Jennifer Ohashi (Yasuhiro) of Camp Hill; a great nephew Chris Shuler (Nicole) of New Cumberland; and several other great nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm on Friday, October 27, 2023 in St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1300 Bridge St. New Cumberland, PA with the Rev. Matthew Cannon as Celebrant.  Visitation with the family will be held from 12:30 – 1:30 pm Friday in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland.  Burial will be private.
