Sara Jane Uber

Sara Jane Uber, 83, formerly of Camp Hill and Mechanicsburg, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Messiah Lifeways, Upper Allen Twp.

Jane was known for her loving heart, compassion for others and great sense of humor. Prior to being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s she was active with many organizations. She was a member and 25 year Sunday School Teacher of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Highland Park; the West Shore Country Club; the Altrusa Club International, and the Highland Women’s Club. Jane enjoyed cooking, entertaining, fashion shows and playing golf, but her greatest passion was spending time with her family and friends.

Jane was born in Philadelphia to the late George and Gladys (White) Willi. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 64 years, Richard Bertram Uber.

She is survived by her children, Richard Uber, (Miriam) of Bluffton, SC, Linda Young (Ed) of New Cumberland and Carolyn Shaw (Tom) of Lewisberry; five grandchildren, Rick Uber (Lynda), Marie Ramalho (Louis), Cory Young, Scott and Kelly Shaw; five great grandchildren, Ryley, Jared and Emily Uber, Sarafina and Luke Ramalho; sisters, Dorothy Sullivan of New Cumberland and Nancy Sadler of Lakeland, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 3, 2015 in Messiah Lifeways Chapel, 100 Mt. Allen Dr. Mechanicsburg with Pastor Debby Bentch officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services in the chapel. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made in Jane’s memory to her late husband’s memorial scholarship fund: Richard Uber Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 335, New Cumberland, PA 17070.
