Scott Laird, 69, of New Cumberland, passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Holy Spirit Hospital, East Pennsboro Twp.
Scott was a graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology. Upon graduation he was employed by Gannett Fleming, Inc., before accepting employment with Dunn Geoscience, Inc. Eventually he started his own consulting firm and became the owner and President of Laird Geoenvironmental Sciences, Inc., Camp Hill. After over 25 years he retired and went to work part-time for Gannett Fleming, Inc. He had been in total retirement for the past two years.
His favorite hobby and relaxing getaway was going to his sailboat, “Common Ground” docked in a Marina on the Chesapeake Bay. He and his wife enjoyed many summers sailing around the bay and exploring.
He is survived by his wife of more than 49 years, Susan (Groninger) Laird; two sons, Scott Laird of Mechanicsburg and Stephen Laird of Montpelier, VT; and a sister, Nancy Lindgren of Portland, OR.
Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made in Scott’s memory to the American Heart Association, Capital Region Division, 1019 Mumma Road, Wormleysburg, PA 17043.
