Sheila A. Mccartin

June 9, 1949 — April 11, 2017

Early on the morning of April 11, 2017 God took Shelagh to be with Him.

She had been one of His most perfect creatures.

Kind, loving, giving.

Genuinely loved and admired by her universe of friends.

Unselfishly devoted to family, especially the three fine young men she birthed into this world and nurtured into outstanding adults.

She bore the anxiety of three combat tours with stoic courage. Watched a young lad dedicate himself to the sport of ice hockey and achieve distinction at the Division I level and on to professional competition in Europe. Proudly encouraged the development of a young man with a tremendous heart who greatly pleased her by being recognized as a Pennsylvania Big Brothers and Sisters Brother of the Year and who continues his career working with youth.

She was authentically devout in her practice of Catholicism.

In her role of daughter and sister she displayed strong devotion to her family ties. Having lost her father at a young age she was dedicated to the welfare of her widowed mother.

The pinnacle of her later years was to co-grandmother, along with Carol Barnacle, their grandson Liam. They perpetually spoil him.

For every single day of her forty-four years and 347 days of marriage she was the significantly better half of that union.

Her family is shattered because she has left us and we miss her dearly.

She was an angel on earth and continues that role in heaven.

Viewing will be from 5 to 7pm Monday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Tuesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland.

Memorial Contributions are requested to her church, 1300 Bridge St., New Cumberland, PA 17070 or to Shalom House, 9 South 15th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17104.
