Stanley C. Strumsky, 85, of Lower Allen Township, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
He was born in Mayfield, PA on January 16th, 1930. He was raised in Carbondale, PA and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School, class of 1948. He joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer after 31 years. He had two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star with valor and one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Overseas Service Ribbon and numerous other medals and unit citations. Following his army career, he worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot and the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, New Cumberland, PA.
Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margaret Strumsky, his sons Mark Strumsky & wife Susan of Anchorage, Alaska, Stanley Strumsky & wife Jill of Mechanicsburg, PA, daughter Susan Sandwell & husband David of San Diego, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Katherine and husband Eddie, Andrew and wife Kristen, Philip, Melissa, Lauren, Nicholas and Colin and one great grandchild, Grayson. He has one surviving sister, Alice Zarnowski of Carbondale, PA.
Viewing will be from 9:30am until 10:30am Wednesday at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church, New Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
