Steven M. Winder, 73, of New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at Geisinger Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, with family at his side. Son of the late Jim and Maxine (Jernigan) Winder, he was born on March 18, 1947 in St. Paul, MN.
Upon graduation of high school in La Grange, IL (Chicago suburb), Steve went on to serve his country in the Air Force for twelve years. After his military service, he worked at the New Cumberland Army Depot, and specifically with the USASAC (United States Army Security Assistance Command), where he retired after 30 years of employment. Steven was a Chicago sports nut, and he enjoyed playing golf. He was baseball commissioner of Challenger Little League, Camp Hill, where he could give back to the community and spend time with his boys. When his sons were in high school, he attended a few Cedar Cliff Friday night football games with them. More recently, the three enjoyed several Hershey Bears hockey games this past season.
Steven is survived by his two sons, Thomas J. Winder and Nicholas C. Winder, both of New Cumberland; and his ex-wife, Marthe Winder of Enola.
A private graveside service with military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, at the convenience of the family.
