Thelma E. Springer

July 19, 1941 — May 24, 2016

Thelma E. Springer, (74) of New Cumberland died May 24th, 2016 after a short battle with aggressive cancer.
Thelma was born July 19, 1941 in Mechanicsburg to the late Charles Wesley and Helen (Hutton) Snyder. Thelma graduated from New Cumberland High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart, Ron. She was foremost a wife and mother, but also worked for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and for many years volunteered at Holy Spirit Hospital. She loved to laugh. Playing cards, gardening, shopping with her sister, traveling overseas, road trips and visiting with friends all gave her great pleasure; but above all, she treasured time spent with family. Everyone would agree that the positive impact she had on others is beyond measure.
Thelma is survived by her husband, Ronald B. Springer; three sons, Cory A. and wife Teddy of Kensington, MD, Scott A. and wife Petra of Etters, and Michael A. of New Cumberland; a brother, Alvin Snyder and wife Sydney of Reading; sister, Linda Dixon of New Cumberland; several nieces and nephews; and three grandchildren, Tyler, Jake, and Sophie.
Visitation will begin at 10am on Saturday, May 28th at New Cumberland First Church of God; the funeral service will begin at 11am with the Rev. Charles Zahora officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Homeland Hospice (www.homelandhospice.org), 2300 Vartan Way # 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110 and Hospice of Central Pennsylvania (hospiceofcentralpa.org), 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
