Thomas J. Vinson, 74, of Etters, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Miriam Shields (Conway) and Hansel J. Vinson. He graduated from Saint Augustine High School, Brooklyn, NY, in 1964, and received a Bachelor's Degree from Brooklyn College, CUNY in 1968. Thereafter he earned a Master’s Degree at Ohio State University.
After college, he served in the Peace Corps in Liberia, Africa, and was a feature writer for a newspaper. He worked for many years as a flight steward for TWA out of New York and Los Angeles. His next job was as a programmer for a medical billing firm. Later in his life, he was a volunteer for Hospice.
Tom traveled extensively and made many friends along the way. He had many interesting stories and loved to relate them to everyone he met. He was a voracious reader of science fiction books, especially very thick ones. He loved music, oldies and soft rock, and movies. He was knowledgeable about just about any subject and was fluent in several languages. He was a connoisseur of ethnic foods, especially Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Korean, and Arabic. He lived all over the United States, including New York, Michigan, Ohio, California, Arizona, South Carolina, Florida, and Pennsylvania.
In accordance with Tom’s wishes, there will be no services or memorial. He will be greatly missed by all his many friends.
