It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas L. James, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on January 26, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 24, 1939, in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, Thomas lived a life marked by dedication, hard work, and love for his family. Thomas was a 1958 graduate of the former New Cumberland High School. A proud veteran, Thomas served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from April 12, 1960, until his honorable discharge on May 4, 1962. After his military service, he dedicated his career to steel manufacturing at Bethlehem Steel, where he became known for his exceptional work ethic and commitment to the industry.

He enjoyed peanut butter, bowling, word searches and puzzles. He loved all types of music and attending Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra concerts. He was a devoted member of Trinity Church of New Cumberland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph B. and Ruth (Troutman) James and his brother, Joseph B. James, Jr. 

Thomas is survived by his devoted spouse, Yvonne M. (Novak) James; his cherished daughter, Jennie James (Michael Sloan) of Palo Alto, CA ; and his adored granddaughter, Ashley Lavender of Mechanicsburg. He is also survived by his brothers, Paul James (Brenda) of Bonita Springs, FL and David James (Mary) of Columbia, MO, his sister Jill Sedor (Michael) of Harrisburg, as well as several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

A celebration of Thomas's life will take place on February 3, 2025. A public visitation will commence at 10:00 AM at Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Thomas’s legacy of love and resilience. Following the services, his remains will be respectfully laid to rest at Rolling Green Cemetery.
