Virginia Sue “Ginny” Burtnett, 76, of Camp Hill, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2019 in her residence.
Ginny was born in Harrisburg to the late David and Resta (Kister) Nye. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Gary Nye.
She was a retired teacher and counselor with the West Shore School District where she also coached several sports and was the former Band Front Director. Ginny was a 1961 graduate of Cedar Cliff High School, a graduate of Lock Haven University where she earned her BS in Health and Physical Education and Shippensburg University where she earned her M Ed. in Counseling. She was a long-time member and past officer of the Harrisburg Bridge Club where she made many friends over the years. Ginny enjoyed traveling, and watching and attending sporting events. But more than anything, she loved her granddaughters and every minute they spent together.
She is survived by her husband of more than 51 years, James E. Burtnett; her daughter Kelly L. Weber and husband Jared of Camp Hill; and granddaughters, Isabella and Alexis Weber.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, January 3, 2020 in Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland. Visitation will be held from 9am until service time Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Upper Allen Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Ginny’s memory to Harrisburg Bridge Club, 349 N 21st St., Camp Hill, PA 17011.
