Virginia Sue Heffelfinger

December 29, 1938 — February 26, 2017

Virginia Sue Heffelfinger, 78, formerly of New Cumberland and Paxton Ministries, Harrisburg, passed away on Sunday, 2/26/2017 in The Meadows at West Shore, East Pennsboro Twp.

She was a retired Legislative Aide for the PA Legislative Reference Bureau, PA State Senate, and PA House of Representatives. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed writing letters and studying her bible. Many knew her as Sue earlier in life, but later enjoyed being called Virginia.

“Sue” was born in Stanfield, NC to the late Arthur and Georgia Lou (Roberts) Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Jean Herrin, Charles E. Hill, Peggy E. Hill and Anne Leopard.

She is survived by her children, Neil L. Heffelfinger, Jr. of Harrisburg, Terry L. Heffelfinger and husband Daniel J. Furci of Hummelstown and Amy L. Heffelfinger of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Ericka Heffelfinger, Maria Furci and Derek Furci; and her former husband, Neil L. Heffelfinger Sr., of Hummelstown. She also had 15 nieces and 8 nephews. She was close to her nieces Helen Halterman of Ridgecrest, NC, and Kay Draper of Norman, OK, through her letter writing.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with burial in Dillsburg Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions in Virginia’s memory to Paxton Ministries, Inc., 2001 Paxton St., Harrisburg, PA 17111-1093.
