William (Bill) M. Spahr

June 10, 1931 — April 1, 2017

William (Bill) M. Spahr, 85, of Lewisberry, passed away at his winter home in Vero Beach, FL, on Saturday, April 1st, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Fairview Township on June 10, 1931, to the late Clyde and Emma (Shettle) Spahr. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Carole, and his four children.

He retired as a machinist/tool grinder with Caterpillar Tractor Company after 38 ½ years.
Bill served in the Army and was a decorated Veteran of the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Metal with a Bronze Service Star, the United Nations Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Bill lived a great life and was a fantastic husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle.

He was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church, Camp Hill; a former Boy Scout Troop Leader, Indian Y Guides and a Youth baseball coach. Bill was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, traveling, sailing, and was an avid Phillies fan. He also enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and other school activities.

Surviving are his wife Dr. Carole (Dorwart) Spahr; a son Brian W. Spahr of Etters; three daughters, Pamela J Lyon (Jeffrey) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Jill S Young (Zackary) of Annville, Angela M Spahr of New Cumberland; three sisters: Shirley Sheaffer (Paul) of Etters, Jacqueline Wentz of Hanover and Dorothy Keech (Darrell) of Etters; eight grandchildren, April Owen, Julie Lombardo, Justin Spahr, Derrick Siegfried, Valentina Spahr, Isabella Spahr, Jeremy Lyon, Joshua Lyon; eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by a great grandson, Dakotah Smith, and a sister, Arlene Jacoby.

Visitation will be held Saturday April 8th at 10:00am followed by a memorial service at 11:00am at Christ Presbyterian Church, 421 Deerfield Road, Camp Hill, with the Rev. The Rev. Ellen Crawford True officiating.
