William C. “Bill” Knickman, 71, of Fairview Twp. New Cumberland, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 in his residence with his family at his side.
He was a retired Program Analyst with the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Hampden Twp. and a member of St. Stephen Episcopal Cathedral, Harrisburg. Bill was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed shooting at the firing range, camping, fishing and boating. He was a history and trivia buff who claimed he “could easily win Ben Stine’s money”. He never missed an opportunity to attend a Chanticleer performance in or near Pennsylvania. Bill’s son Matthew is a member of this vocal orchestra and Bill was extremely proud of all of his children’s accomplishments. Bill cherished his time with his wife Diane, his children and his grandchildren – they were his purpose in life.
Bill was born in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late William N. and Etta (French) Knickman. In addition to his parents, he was the widow of Diane L. Stewart and was preceded in death by a daughter Victoria Atkins, brother Gary Knickman and sisters, Janet Allers, Annette Baggett and Lois Knickman.
He is survived by his children, Patricia Burns (David), Pamela Minhas, Tracy Burns (Michael), Stephen Atkins (Wendy), Kristen Knickman (Rob Ryder) and Matthew Knickman (Caitlyn Koester); his brother William Ronald Knickman; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Nicole, Sara, Shawn, Jennifer, Courtney, David and Regan; and several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In Lieu of flowers Memorial contribution are requested to the nonprofit organization Chanticleer, http://www.Chanticleer.org/, based in San Francisco, California. Chanticleer is known globally as an orchestra of voices, and is a nonprofit, full-time male classical vocal ensemble.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Bill’s neighbors and close friends who selflessly gave of their time and talents to take such good care of Bill in his failing health.
