William E. Kenyon, 83, of Camp Hill died Sunday, December 31, 2017 peacefully in his sleep after a brief stay at Harrisburg Hospital.
He was a graduate of Allegheny College, in Meadville, where he met his wife Betsy Wolfe. An Army Veteran, he was a retired entrepreneur, starting up several businesses including a lighting maintenance company and a British Imports Store. In his early carrier he was a Jazz drummer, sometimes filling in for the legendary Gene Kruppa. Later he flew airplanes for the Civil Air Patrol. He also became a licensed ship captain and built several boats from scratch with the help of his son and ran a Harbor Ferry service both in St. Michael’s, MD and off City Island in Harrisburg. He was a lover of British automobiles and in the 70’s and 80’s ran a Rolls-Royce and Bentley Restoration shop which also specialized in English sports cars, including a TVR dealership.
He was born August 7, 1934 in Wilkinsburg, PA to the late Bertram H. and Elsie W. (Heberling) Kenyon and was the widower of Elizabeth W. Kenyon. To him, family was everything and he relished all time spent with them.
He is survived by a son, William A. Kenyon (Nanci) of Lemoyne; daughter, Jane S. Weicht (Todd) of New Cumberland; five grandchildren, Leisa, Samantha, Daniel, Emma and Erin; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6pm followed by a memorial service at 7pm Friday, January 5th at Parthemore Funeral Home, New Cumberland.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg, PA.
