William Kyle Whitlock, a Philadelphia native and long-time resident of Mechanicsburg, PA died on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Holy Spirit Hospital following a prolonged cardiac illness. He was 87 years old.
He attended Germantown High School, Washington and Jefferson College, and Drexel Institute of Technology.
William was a Navy veteran who served as a navigator on the USS Coral Sea.
William was an innovator, builder-developer, loving husband, father and grandfather.
William and wife, Betty were avid scuba divers forty years ago when the sport was in its infancy. They owned a scuba shop on the West Shore and took dozens of groups to explore the Caribbean.
Bill and Betty moved from Philadelphia in 1958 to build the development Allendale. In the next fifty years, William built Fair Oaks, High Meadow, Hedgerow, Laurel Woods Hershey, Cedar Run Apartments and many custom homes.
Bill was a member of the Home Builders Association, New Cumberland River Rescue, the American Legion and liked Ham radio, hiking and underwater photography.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Sankey Whitlock , and three sons, William Kyle Whitlock, Jr. (Sherry Lee), Robert Howard Whitlock, O.D., John Bradley Whitlock (Jennifer Godshall), four grandchildren, William Kyle Whitlock, III, Caitlin Abigail Whitlock, Karlee Amanda Whitlock and Trevor James Whitlock.
The funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Liberty Forge, 3804 Lisburn Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
