William C. McLaughlin, Jr. (affectionately known as Mr. Bill), died on Monday, April 9th, 2018, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Son of the late Barbara Ann and William Charles McLaughlin, Sr., Bill was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on Groundhog Day, 1954.
Bill retired as a self-employed private investigator; he was also a Vietnam War veteran and a member of American Legion Post 143, New Cumberland. He was a mentor to many throughout the years, especially during his time as a soccer coach for the West Shore Soccer Club and head coach of the Cedar Cliff Boys’ Soccer program. He was so involved with youth soccer that the complex of fields adjacent to the Lisburn Community Fire Co. was renamed “McLaughlin Park” after Mr. Bill. Bill enjoyed boating, fishing and anything having to do with the Susquehanna River. He was a master at horseshoes, despite having to toss them with his foot, and he often provided entertainment for those around him. His most cherished memories revolve around the time he was able to spend with his grandkids.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen; his three children, Danielle (Justin), Brooke (Rey), and Bill (Sukanya); a sister, Linda; and a brother, Joseph; and four grandchildren; Danika, Jaxon, Olivia, and Madison.
